Winter Gardening!!

As winter is in mid-way, this is the most important time to take care of your lawn and garden. It seems kind of odd when I say to go to buy plants now. But, this is the right time to buy perennials because they are in a bloom now, and we can see how the perennials are going to look like. Another most important thing to do is to cut off dead wood. It is because later in summer, we will find insects hiding there. So it is aways better to prevent it, and this is the right time.

It is always good to plant clover in winter time as it plays the role of a cover crop. In the last week of February, just before the temperature starts to warm up, it is better to be ready to spray with a pre-emergent because there are millions of crab grass seeds in teh grass waiting to come out in spring. This should not be done before February as it kills new seeds. Pre-emergent spray should be done by professionals as it contains harmful chemicals. Now is the best time to buy new trees and bushes because they are much cheaper in stores now. As spring starts, their prices start to soar high. Planting bare root trees and roses before spring is always the best idea. Winter is the best time to contact a landscape contracter about updating a yard because when they get busy in spring, it is very hard to find good landscapers.

It's always good to be ready so that we don't have to panic when spring comes.

Want gardening as a hobby?!!

Everyone is busy in today's life and I know they want to get rid of that stress for some amount of time. I feel gardening as a hobby gives me a sort of break from my busy life. It makes me relaxed and fresh. It gives me enthusiasm.

I think if anyone starts gardening, it will elevate some amount of stress. Gardening not only helps us  relax our mind but gives us a little break in our stressful and busy life. Gardening does not have to be outdoor, it can be indoor too. There are some simple basic things that we need to know before we start gardening. For example - we need to make sure that we have enough knowledge of a plant that we are going to buy. Plants are not like buying a showpiece for our house. It needs care. This is one of the most important thing that gardeners need to know because different species of plants need different types of care. For example, some plants are fine with lots of water or overwatering, while some plants will die if we overwater them. We also need to know if the plants are summer plants , spring plants or winter plants. Specific kind of fertilizer for some plants helps them for a healthy growth.

Those are very few basic tips for gardening. As I said before, it will be a great relief for people who are constantly busy in their job. It is good for a change. But, I just don't want to limit the reasons of gardening for people who are busy. People who love environment and have special connection with plants and trees love gardening. They feel as if they are close to the nature. I feel happy with this because I am not pushing myself to do this. I love being around plants and taking care of them.

So, its time for you to relax your mind and spend a small fraction of your time with plants!!
